HP SmartCache is a controller-based, caching solution in a DAS environment that caches the most frequently accessed data ("hot" data) onto lower latency Solid State Drives (SSDs) to dynamically accelerate application workloads.
SmartCache is hosted on HP Smart Array Controllers and can be enabled on HP Smart Array P420i, P420, P421, P430, and P431 Controllers with 1 GB or larger Flash Backed Write Cache (FBWC) for HP ProLiant Gen8 Servers and on HP Smart Array P440ar, P440 and P441 Controllers with 2 GB or larger FBWC for HP ProLiant Gen9 Servers. HP SmartCache features are standard on Smart Array P721m/2 GB, P822/2 GB, P731m/2 GB, P830/4 GB, and P840/4 GB.
HP SmartCache is deployed and managed through the same management tool for HP Smart Array—HP Smart Storage Administrator (HP SSA).
